Updates for June 2008

News
Lately I've been keeping busy with work, a new york design and marketing firm known as Cosmo Marketing. Not too bad work surprisingly. Also as you may have noticed, I've been releasing several stock renders of scenic mountain ranges. These where generated with Terragen 0.9 for the Mac. No, this is not me turning this account into a stock image account, just figured I give back to Deviant Artests in the best way that I know how.

Thanks
Big thanks are in order to all those that have pushed my page views way past the 2000 mark. Its been almost a year since i've been actively updating this account and its much appreciated. You guys have made this my fastest growing online profile to date :D :D . Thank You All

The Shadow departs and there was one

Tue Apr 8, 2008, 1:01 AM
You've may have noticed that there's not much activity on my account since the beginning of the year. So to that I say, yes I've been AFD(away from DA) and 'ell the whole blog-o-sphere at that. Is not that I lost interest, dropped off the face of the earth or had better things to do. Its more that being in a pinch for months now.

At the beginning of February I had my wallet stolen, which had all my id in it except Lucky my Birth Certificate. So I ended up loosing my credit card, drivers license, social security card, and bank account info. To top it all off a few other things that are irreplaceable.

Now I know it sounds like a sob story, and I'm one of the biggest crittics to this stuff but this isn't something I take lightly. Not knowing what I know. Every been to Defcon 14? Well I wrote up a few white papers about the subject before they started and all.

And with being away its taken its tool, I get well over a thousand emails every few days just on blogging, technology and open source software. I'm still bogged down on all the blogs I need to scan, plus need to get things caught up on here and my [link] blog once again. :crash: Plus, the back log of art work I need to get up here. Do keep a look out for that. I got some urban art and gothic pieces coming.

So, basically I'm back and with a vendetta and a goal. I need $30 dollars to get my paperwork back in order, its the state id and bus fare to get around. Now that sounds like a lot up front but its only a few prints sold and things are golden. To my friends here at deviantART, I appreciate any help you can give.

I'm only asking that you do one of three things, blog/tweet/digg about my artwork(free), donate through PayPal
(only $5), or buy a print. I'm only going to be doing this through April and in the mean time You'll still see some new art pieces. The ones who help the most will be entered into a raffle for a free print, copies my yet to be release tutorials, and a full article and interview on my blog The Teachings of Master Den Zuko and here on DA. The one who donates the most will receive a full page article and interview on my blogs, plus a video tribute of thier works posted on Veoh, Current.tv, Google Video, and YouTube with link backs to the artest's gallery.

All in all that's darn nice for only helping out some get thier drivers license back.

Lately I've been surfing DA for some amazing artwork. And well if you look at my :+fav: then you'll see some quite amazing stuff, of course a bit of my own personal tastes there to. Though after the last two I've seen its got me thinking, what the frag.. I'm going to start a list of the most amazing stuff on deviantART. Its going to have to do it monthly seeing as I've got a second job doing accounting.

The Whoa Factor

What is it:

The Whoa Factor is a list of the most amazing stuff that's on deviantART. Four and Five star works done by amature or semi-professionals. This is also a part of a contest I've been working up for months now and have finally desided to just do something about it.

Submittions:

Starting the first week of every month I'll be taking submittions by notes. Be sure to include a link to the art piece, and genre in the body. The in the subject line must include, "The Whoa Factor" and the title of the deviantion.

Rules:

  • Submittions are open to all genre and artests

  • Only the first 100 submittions are accepted

  • Any submittions after 11:59:59 on the seventh day of the month will not be counted

  • Prizes, if any, for the month are to be determind by the panel judges

  • At the end of the month the final top ten vote will be desided by you the deviants

  • All further details will be posted here on my journal so do make sure you :+devwatch:(watch this deviant) that way you know what's going on.

We look forward to seeing your Whoa factor deviants. Good luck and happy creating.
